We are connected from head to toe. I sequence according to the myofascial meridians based on Thomas Myers' Anatomy Trains’ lines of fascia in the body. By approaching the practice in this holistic manner, we can train the body to move more effectively and safely through conscious and intentional movement and breath. Additionally, I incorporate FRC (Functional Range Conditioning), along with fascia-targeting techniques including some dynamic and nontraditional movement practices, with traditional asana in my classes.
On a technical level, I place a strong emphasis on anatomy and how activating certain muscles versus relying on mobility of the joints and tendons can aid in a safer practice and a better awareness of how the body functions.
Philosophically, I love mixing tradition with the new and keeping students “on their toes.”
I do my best to curate sequences that keep you present, one breath at a time, so that you cannot think of anything outside of you. The goal is to feel good after your practice. I encourage my students to focus on feeling the sensations of the practice, versus what we think a specific asana should “look” like.
During a class you’ll find challenges, laughter, and a bit of calm in the chaos.
You’ll get to know your body on a more intimate level, and through that process, get to know your mind.
“I’ll say it again — it is all connected. We are all connected.”
